Private | Remote | In Person

There are many reasons you might consider reaching out to a private mental health services. Have A Word offers flexible session availability to suit your schedule. It is my passion to create convenient sessions within your life - especially if you have difficulty leaving the house or using transport to get to a session.

The introductory telephone call is free because it is really important that you feel as comfortable as possible and ask plenty of questions to gain trust in the person you are talking to. Getting the most out of the sessions can sometimes feel difficult, but there are positive steps you can take before you begin, starting with these reflective questions:

  • Am I ready to explore my thoughts, feelings and behaviours?

  • Do I feel ready to open up about things that are very personal or hard to talk about? This can include any neurodiverse blockers.

  • Is there anything else I need help with first: housing issues, legal priorities or financial issues?

Some clients feel isolated and have no one else to talk to, but even people with a supportive family and friends can find it difficult to talk to loved ones about things they are finding difficult. A lot of us will often find it easier to talk about personal, family or relationship issues with an independent mental health professional.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place at a regular, agreed time in a safe and private place. Sessions can involve talking about:

- Life Events

- Feelings and Emotions

- Relationships

- Ways of Thinking

- Patterns of Behaviour

As your Mental Health Professional, I will listen, encourage and empathise but will also challenge your perspective of the problem(s) with you. This will help you to see your issues through a different lens and help you to create a different view on the what you are facing > creating new options.

ADHD coaching is usually coaching done through an ADHD lens! Which is great for you to know that I have diagnosed ADHD too. I have the context, understanding and skills to be able to help an ADHD-er understand how their brain works for them.

It is extremely important for me to provide a psychologically safe environment to untangle ADHD, and that is where my Therapeutic approach comes in too!

Clients often reach out to me feeling unsure of what support they might need and feel overwhelmed by options. Post-diagnosis can often leave us feeling unsure of what to do next, but ADHD coaching can really help to figure out how to use your ADHD to your advantage.

I am trained to use (an optional) framework of exercises based on the 30% developmental delay in executive functioning skills underlying ADHD, such as self-awareness, motivation, impulsivity, memory, problem solving, and emotional regulation. Actions and goals may come out of this, but they do not necessarily have to. You do not have to force what isn't natural or helpful in any coaching session with me.

I cannot thank you enough for helping me get to the the place I am now, which is more happy and settled than I have felt in a very long time.

You have helped me through a very difficult period for which I am forever thankful. You are a precious person."

Telephone Session

Telephone sessions are just like a face to face session, however I believe in creating a different option for your convenience.  Not everyone can leave the house easily or access services in travelling distance. Telephone sessions eliminate the worry of using a camera.

Thoughts, issues and worries do not stop at the weekend. It is important that the option of a weekend therapy session is available on request. There is a higher fee for this.

Have A Word

Facebook

If you know someone has been unwell, don’t be afraid to ask how they are.

They might want to talk about it, or they might not. But just letting them know they don’t have to avoid the issue with you is important.

Spending time with your loved one lets them know you care, and can help you understand what they’re going through.

The Have A Word Facebook page encourages people to think more about mental health and the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Developing empathy is crucial for establishing relationships and behaving compassionately. It involves experiencing another person’s point of view and enables helpful behaviours that come from within, rather than being forced. Whether it be short or long term support that is required, I encourage you to start the journey and hear how private, flexible sessions can help you.

I am an ethically trained professional NLP Practitioner and Advanced ICF Coach using leadership development techniques and personal transformation processes. NLP is a pseudoscientific approach to communication, personal development and psychotherapy (created in the 70s). The goals of NLP are to help a client understand that the way a person views the world affects how a person interacts and behaves in the world. It is necessary to change the thoughts and behaviour patterns that have not proven helpful in the past, and create a better way of thinking towards a happier, healthier way of being.

NLP is used to treat:

- Phobias

- Anxiety

- Low self-esteem

- Stress

- PTSD

It is my passion to continue learning different approaches and blending skills to create my own style and way of working with clients - wonderful people like you. I just love meeting people, in many contexts and enjoy finding out more about you so I can find ways of helping, supporting - healing. I believe in creating a simple but effective session for self-exploration in a safe, non judgemental environment that will work towards equipping you with helpful tools and strategies to move forward into a healthier and happier way of life.
